From lacking in confidence to thriving in a new position
Judi was approached by Rainy Day Recruitment on LinkedIn while she was still employed in a role that closely matched a niche Quality Manager position. It was proving difficult to fill, and Judi’s skillset was aligned with what the employer needed. Lacking confidence and believing her experience didn’t match part of the role, Judi declined the offer to discuss the job. Not long after, her long-term position was made redundant.
Out of practice and anxious as a mature age candidate
After many years with the same employer, Judi felt insecure about her mature-age status and lack of practice in the job market. When she lost her job, Judi also feared age discrimination, feeling as if she was potentially unemployable.
“Job hunting was stressful. I’d taken long service leave while I tried to find my feet and focus on what I wanted to do next. I was looking for a quality assurance role and Rainy Day said I was a good match.”
Judi, however, was concerned that she didn’t meet the role’s requirements for lengthy experience in both work, health and safety and Return to Work coordination, in addition to quality management.
“Job hunting on my own was stressful.”
Guidance, and insight into role’s core qualities
Rainy Day persisted with Judi and developed a relationship as a trusted advocate. They negotiated with the NDIS employer, Yourkids, to change the job role to have less emphasis on WHS and more on quality management.
“I felt like I had my hand held the entire time. Rainy Day negotiated with me to have training as a Return to Work Coordinator and in work, health and safety to better equip me for the whole of the new position. They recognised I had the experience and skill set and saw past the lack of certification in the additional roles. They are so proactive and friendly.”

A new job with further training and flexible hours
Rainy Day Recruitment also gave Judi advice on her resumé, cover letter and how to draw attention to her experience working in the NDIS sector. They coordinated the testing and three rounds of interviews which took the pressure off her at a time when she lacked confidence.
Judi was successful in winning the role in a small team of friendly and hard-working disability specialists.
“Rainy Day was always available with patience and the information I needed. Jenny, the Consultant who worked with me, was like my support person. I always felt in the loop, and Jenny followed up after each step in the recruitment process. They even matched my requirements for flexible, reduced working hours. This all made an enormous difference for me. I was able to enjoy my long service leave until I started in the new role, which is going exceptionally well.”
“In addition, I have completed my Return to Work Coordinator training and WHS training which has proved to be very beneficial in my role. My Manager encourages me to complete appropriate training and I have completed many NDIS related courses since commencing in my role.”
